I grew up in the countryside of Isaan, in Northeast Thailand, where life was simple and family meant everything. As the eldest daughter, it was my responsibility to look after my family, and one of the greatest ways I cared for them was through cooking.

Food was never just food.

It was how we showed love.

​

Every evening, when the pots were simmering and the table was full, the house came alive with laughter.

 

Cooking brought us together, it was our happy time, our connection, our comfort.

As I grew older, I realised that cooking wasn’t just something I did, it was something I loved. I wanted to share that same warmth and joy with more people, not just my family at home.

​

When I met my partner, who fell in love not only with me but also with my cooking, we eventually moved to the UK. I came to love the people here and the feeling of community that reminded me of home.

And so, Sabai Mai was born.

​

Sabai Mai is more than a takeaway, it’s a piece of my home, my heart, and my family traditions. Every dish is cooked the way I learned in my village kitchen, with care, patience, and real Thai ingredients.

​

My hope is that when you sit down to eat our food, you feel the same warmth, comfort, and happiness that filled my home back in Isaan.
